Lucia & Jason — Main Characters

Lucia: Breaking New Ground in Vice City

Lucia's introduction in Trailer 1 confirmed her as the central anchor of Grand Theft Auto VI's narrative. As the first female playable protagonist in the modern 3D era of the franchise, her story begins inside a Vice City correctional facility. Wearing a orange prison jumpsuit during counseling sessions, Lucia's motivation centers on survival, ambition, and trusting her partner when everything else goes wrong.

Early gameplay footage shows Lucia equipped with an electronic ankle monitor while navigating the streets of Vice City, restricting certain areas until progression milestones are unlocked. Her combat style emphasizes close-quarters tactical handling, hostage management during store robberies, and quick decision-making under police pressure.

Jason: The Tactical Wheelman

Jason operates as the grounded, muscle-bound counterweight to Lucia's fiery ambition. Deeply entrenched in the rural swamps of Leonard County and Vice City's port channels, Jason brings military precision, vehicle customization expertise, and heavy firepower handling to their joint criminal endeavors.

In gameplay scenarios, Jason excels at high-speed getaway driving, weapon recoil control, and coordinating tactical positions during bank heists and armored truck intercepts across the State of Leonida.

Dual Protagonist Mechanics & Heist Systems

GTA VI refines the character-switching system pioneered in GTA V. Rather than managing three isolated lives across Los Santos, Lucia and Jason operate as a unified pair. Players can swap between Lucia and Jason instantly during active missions or free-roam exploration.
